Today Harry Reid said our President was not confrontational to the Republicans in Congress. And although, I think that is the lowest thing to do--considering this weak leader had a clear majority and could not get health care to pass the way it was intended to pass... I think he has a point.
Barack Obama is a gifted speaker, a gifted politician, and I believe he has the countries best issues at heart. However, this man- after 2 years has not proved to me to be a strong leader. It's like we went from one opposite end of the spectrum to the other.
What most people don't get unless you are living where I am (Hard Core Conservative USA) or San Francisco (Hard Core Liberal USA) most of the country is in between. When Bush played the Hard Core Conservative (Which he was not.) or when Obama plays the Hard Core Liberal-- the Independent voice- the middle road of America feels alienated.
Barack Obama is not strong enough. And it takes great pride for me to swallow to say, we have been a duped by a politician who promised to bring down special interests-- and he has turned out to look a lot like Mr. 43rd President. Still in Iraq, Spending our children's future, Economy tanking....
Now unlike most Americans, I am not stupid enough to place the blame on one man. To me that's the most ridiculous thing you can do. It is truly the most uneducated that blame one person.
The condition of America was on the decline, long before Barack Obama took the oath of office. He had the power to do some real things-- Spend a year on the economy, Move forward on Clean Energy- and create more jobs. Stop Special Interests from making the say on what happens in Congress, Secure our borders and make a sweeping immigration bill. But what Barack Obama decided to do was to spend a year on a bill that most Americans did not want passed. Oh they wanted something done about Health Care--but it was not the foremost thing on the agenda.
The thing the President is guilty of-- is not putting the bandages on the things that meant the most to Americans. His approval ratings would be higher, A new radical right movement wouldn't have been so pronounced... and he could have had a chance to become a great President.
The time is ticking for Obama to pick up the baton and do what he needs to do.
In November, Incumbents will be punished. It's going to be a bloodbath, and it frightens me. But, on the other had-- I can't say that they don't deserve it.
If I spend all day fighting with my co-workers, and do not get any work done... if I ignore my customers, if I act irresponsible with the money that is alloted to me in my drawer... I will be fired and replaced. It's just common sense.
The Democrats have held this majority for nearly 4 years...and part of that tenure- They controlled most Governorships in the country, the Executive Branch, and both houses in Congress. They have done nothing but widened the gap for Partisanship.
Republicans are not off the hook either, they did the same thing before the Democrats took over.
This masquerade of Republicans in the masque of Independence. Need to heed and caution history. If they take the majority of one of the branches of Congress-- they need to realize they got there the way Obama got there.
If they fail to deliver in what they promise (which I haven't figured out..what is exactly they are promising.) They will be voted out just as others have before.
This failure is going to reflect on Barack Obama. But after the bloodbath, he still has a choice-- he can serve the people or his party. If the people want something done... he needs to deliver; or in 2012, it's going to be a massacre for him.
The worst thing we can do right now is lose faith. We still can achieve great things, because we have a great American spirit in us.
If people would stop and look at history books, they'd see that our country has gone through rough times before.... some much worse than we are now. And every time we went through them, we rose and achieved greater things.
Instead of believing in Barack Obama, I now choose to believe in the American Spirit. It's far greater reputation of succeeding than politicians do.
